It may not take itself seriously, but Command & Conquer: Generals is still a very well-designed real-time strategy game, and it's unquestionably one of the strongest entries in the series yet.
The real reason to buy this game is for the newer titles in the Command and Conquer series. Red Alert 3, Generals and Command and Conquer 3 are the stand-out titles in this collection and make the whole thing worth buying. For anyone looking for great RTS games, these three plus their expansions are each easily worth the price of admission.
You should start building your base immediately, right there on the open field. Build a Command Center and a power plant first, then a barracks and a supply depot (and a second truck for it). The enemy will attack your base from two main areas. The first is the far right edge, where the street runs along the water.
Finally, which I probably should've mentioned earlier, Zero Hour has new units, buildings, and generals powers which can be very useful. There are so many things to do in this game, and the gameplay is perfect. Graphics: 10/10 Ah, yes, this is command and conquer's best graphiced game. The graphics are very good in this game.

It expands all of the generals arsenals and alters gameplay slightly while staying Asymmetrically *balanced*. Overall the game should be more strategic than tactical.
Command & Conquer: Generals, however, makes almost exclusive use of the left mouse button; the right mouse button is used almost solely for deselecting units.
