Go to Settings > Music. Check to see if Volume Limit is on. If so, click on "on" and then turn the volume all the way up. When you save & exit from this screen the Settings > Music screen will then show Volume Limit as Off. This is what you want. To help deal with "quiet" music I also recommend you turn Sound Check on.
The steering wheel controls work. I play music through my phone while I am also using it for navigation and that is where the problem is. FYI, Bluetooth music and phone worked just fine with the original head unit. The Bluetooth volume is VERY low. The phone is set to full volume and I have to crank the stereo's volume to FULL to get audible

1) be sure you have a bluetooth module. its under the front passenger seat in a foam box. 2) disconnect it with the car off. 3) start the car, let it run for 5 seconds. 4) turn off the car, plug the module back in. 5) restart the car. the phone menu should/could/might now work. It did for me!
